LOCAL SCHOOL'S CULTIVATE & EDUCATE PROGRAMME

Our local ‘Cultivate & Educate’ programme aims to establish, encourage and facilitate growing opportunities in the garden, classroom and at home to improve and support the children’s wellbeing.

STEP 1: ESTABLISHING ROOTS:

  • Introducing Cultivating Change; sharing our ethos, research and stories to educate school communities about gardening’s benefits for mental health and wellbeing

  • Through the delivery of engaging assemblies as well as engaging with schools eco/gardening groups and other interested parties

IMPACT: Introduces the school community to gardening’s calming, sensory and educational benefits, promoting lifelong self-care skills.

STEP 2: SOWING THE SEEDS:

  • Hands-on gardening activities for all children facilitated by the Cultivating Change team. These can include delivering growing workshop, preparing and establishing school gardening spaces as well as providing herb, vegetable and flower seeds for school and home growing projects.

IMPACT: Active participation in gardening embeds horticultural self-care practices, fostering lifelong habits.

STEP 3: CULTIVATE:

  • Ongoing advice and support to sustain gardening projects including regular visits from the Cultivating Change team (including our dedicated horticulturist volunteer) as well as providing additional virtual support.

IMPACT: Continuous knowledge sharing and support to encouraging participation and assist school communities, sustaining gardening projects for future years.
