Just got back from a couple of weeks away in Cornwall & Sommerset - the garden has mostly been OK, but the courgettes plants have taken a hit, so trying to revive them, but there are still quite a few courgettes to harvest including this one...
What would you do with this yellow marrow?
Fritters/steaks/in a tart/soup....what's your top recommendation?

Not been posting so much this year, busy with work and even busier in the new garden! Decided to create a pumpkin patch (also butternut squash and courgettes in), white pumpkins look great and my harvest moon! Although the plants have hugely died back so I guess they’re done and dusted in August?! Plenty of pumpkins though! Think next year I’ll try them in the rockery also

Hi there, from the seeds donated by you guys and along with our own sowing, our first bundle of goodies gone off to our local charity Touchpoint for their food share!
LOVE this! So amazing to see the seeds making a real difference in the community! Keep up the good work. 💚

At Human Roots, our courgettes gone mad, apart from donating lots to the local food share Touchpoint, we have been sharing cooking ideas, highly recommend courgette fritters!!

They said Rome wasn’t built in a Day, but the new fruit cage at Human Roots certainly was!
On a rather damp afternoon in July, the volunteers gathered to construct the new fruit cage. We purchased the cage using the grant awarded by Essex County Council Initiatives Scheme. The cage will give us maximum protection from hungry pigeons; this will allow us to grow more and varied fruits that can then be consumed by the local community!
Hope that cage is keeping the pesky pigeons at bay!
Team work makes the dream work!

Hope all that you are growing is doing OK in the summer sun! If you have any questions about anything, don't forget Annabel, our 'Sow and Grow' expert AKA fab horticulturalist is here to help you if you need.
Ask any questions and she can be on hand with advice and support....
First question from me - why are my Basil plants looking so yellow and frankly unhappy?
I've grown these from seed and they seemed to be doing really well, but now despite watering the leaves are really pale and yellowy - do I need to put them in a larger pot, water less or more or take them out of the heat of the green house, some I'm watering directly into the pot and some I'm watering from the bottom!?
Here are a couple of photos - advice needed! Thanks

Hello! Sorry it's taken a while to reply! Basil often goes yellow due to over watering so give the pots a rest for a day or two.
You can also try a little liquid seaweed feed once a week 🌱
And finally, I read once that basil doesn't like to go to bed with wet feet so try watering in the morning 😴
Interestingly the basil I grow in the ground around my tomato plants always does better than the basil I grow in a pot! 🍅

Hi everyone! Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine (and had some rain!) and that everything you are growing is growing well.
I've been experimenting with growing in recycled pots, and love the way these tomato cans are working! Microgreens/Basil/Creek Cress and Chives....
Are you growing in recyled pots?
Love to see what you use!

So excited to pick my first crop this year from the allotment! We ate the coriander with curry and the broad beans are almost ready to eat! How are yours doing?
We certainly will!
